Another miraculous aspect of the Quran is its prediction of future events, all of which have so far been fulfilled. This is one of the proofs that the Quran is the Word of Allah.

The prediction:

In this part (Surah) of the Holy Quran, there is a prediction for an event that occurred years after this Surah was sent to the prophet Mohammed(peace be upon him), this event is the victory of the Byzantine Empire, the eastern part of the later Roman Empire over the Persians, the Quran predicted that the victory would occur in a few (3-9) years after the verses were sent to the prophet.

 The verses in the Surah that expressed this fact were revealed around 620; almost 7 years after the idolatrous Persians had severely defeated the Christian Byzantium in 613-614.

Quran:

”The Romans have been defeated. In the lowest land of the earth, and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. Within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allah, (before the defeat of Romans by the Persians, and after, i.e. the defeat of the Persians by the Romans). And on that Day, the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allah to the Romans against the Persians),” Surah Ar-Rum verse 2-4

 In fact, Byzantium had suffered such heavy losses that it seemed impossible for it even to survive, let alone be victorious again.

 The Persians had seized control of Damascus, Cecilia, Tarsus, Armenia, Egypt, Syria and Jerusalem. The loss of Jerusalem in 614 was particularly traumatic for the Byzantines, for the Church of the Holy Sepulcher was destroyed and the Persians seized the "True Cross"; the symbol of Christianity.

Everyone was expecting Byzantium to be destroyed. It was during this time that ALLAH sent these verses predicting victory which came true.

The victory:

In 622, Heraclius gained a number of victories over the Persians and conquered Armenia In December 627; the two empires fought a decisive battle at Nineveh, some 50 kilometers east of the Tigris River, near Baghdad. This time too, the Byzantine army defeated the Persians. A few months later, the Persians had to sue for peace with Byzantium, which obliged them to return the territories they had taken from it.

The Byzantine victory was completed when Emperor Heraclius defeated the Persian ruler Khosrow II in 630, recaptured Jerusalem, and regained the "True Cross" for the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. In the end, "the victory of the Romans" proclaimed by Allah in the Quran miraculously came true within the verses' that stated a "three to nine years" time frame.

Great geographical fact:

But not only did the Quran predict this great fact, it also revealed a geographical fact that could not have been known by anyone at that time: The defeat of the Romans in 613-614 took place in the lowest region of Earth, It was only discovered in the 20th century that The Dead Sea, one of the regions in which the Byzantines were defeated in 613-14, is the lowest region on Earth.

 The Byzantines and the Persians actually fought at the Dead Sea basin, which is situated at the intersection point of the lands belonging to Syria, Palestine, and Jordan. At 399(or 395) meters below the sea level, the Dead Sea is the "lowest" place on Earth's surface.

However, as only the modern measuring methods and equipment can prove this fact, it would have been impossible for anyone living at that time to realize this truth. Yet, the Quran states clearly that this region was the "lowest land" on Earth and thereby provides further evidence that it is the Word of Allah
